Dogs with wide chests such as pugs and bulldogs have special requirements with regard to dogwear and harnesses. In order to not restrict the dog's movement, harness and dogwear must fit perfectly. And feeding becomes easier for dogs with flat noses, if you use the correct bowl.

Dog jackets in the special size for pugs, bulldogs & co.

Our dog Nala is no purebred pug, but a mix of pug and miniature pinscher. However, Nala has the stature of a pug and special proportions. As a small dog, Nala is always close to the ground. Furthermore, she has hardly any undercoat and an almost bare belly. Therefore, she needs a winter or rain jacket, because otherwise she easily gets cold. The special cut for pugs, bulldogs and co. is ideal for Nala. The jackets fit perfectly and Nala's movement is not hampered at all. We have found two favourite jackets with which Nala is well protected against rain and on icy cold winter days.

The Winterjacket Amundsen is an absolute must-have for the cold season. Not only does it keep your dog warm on icy days, it's also wind- and waterproof. This makes the Winter Jacket Amundsen the perfect companion for frosty days, whether with or without snow. The jacket is made from polyester, lined with cozy fleece and has a warming collar made from faux fur.

The fact that the winter jacket is closed via snap fasteners at the belly is particularly practical. There are two rows each of snap fasteners on both sides, allowing you to adjust the jacket to the belly circumference. For example, on particularly cold days, Nala often wears a thin fleece under her winter jacket. Then we simply adjust the belly circumference to be a bit wider and the winter jacket still fits perfectly.

Defy the rain with the Raincoat Easy Rain

But not only during cold weather, but also on rainy days we like using dogwear for Nala. Because Nala has very little undercoat, the rain is unpleasant for her. She's also not a fan of water falling from the sky in general. The Raincoat Easy Rain offers very good protection against the elements. The exterior of the raincoat is made from polyester, the lining is made from the light net fabric. The coat is closed with Velcro fasteners at the neck and the belly. It reliably protects Nala from rain and also from unpleasant wind.

The details make the difference.

Often it's the little details which make a good thing perfect. This also applies to dogwear by WOLTERS. We particularly like the reflective stripes on the outside of the dog jackets. Because particularly when the days are short, visibility during the daily walk is an absolute must.

For all the dogs who wear a harness under their jackets, the waterproof zipper at the back of the jackets is a godsend. Because it is easy to open the zipper and attach the leash to the harness without the jacket getting on the way. This way, harness and dogwear can be combined without problem.

Harnesses for dogs with wide chests

Every dog owning home should have a dog harness – whether to secure the dog during car rides or to give the owner more control during walks along busy city streets or just for the regular daily walk. However, dogs with wide chests have special requirements regarding harnesses. A good fit is particularly important. On the one hand, the harness should not be too tight, so it does not cut into the dog's body and they are not hampered in their natural movements. On the other hand, the harness should not be too loose either, because otherwise the dog might slip out of the harness with one "wrong" movement.
