Dog leashes
Which leash is suitable for which purposes?
Whether you're taking a walk across a meadow, through the woods or taking your dog window shopping in the city – different situations require different types of dog leashes, which offers a varying range of movement to your dog. However, the purpose of a dog leash is not solely to make sure your dog stays close to you, but it also serves as a practical training aid and supports communication between you and your dog.
We offer classic guide leashes in three different lengths: one, two and three metres. Furthermore, we also offer short leashes, a double leash for two dogs and practical retriever leashes. All our guide leashes are very sturdy, long-lived and washable.
For a better overview, we have compiled a small leash dictionary, so you can find the perfect leash for your dog and the respective situation:
The classic guide leash for dogs
Whether you're taking a walk in the park or in the city, if your dog need to be leashed, a classic guide leash is indispensable. The two metre long leash is the classic among guide leashes and will serve as a good companion in all situations. Our extra long guide leashes with a length of approx. three metres offer your dog more freedom and allow your dog to enjoy a large range of movement, while allowing you to maintain full control. All our guide leashes are thrice adjustable, very sturdy and washable.
You have a choice of our Professional leashes of sturdy nylon, our Professional Comfort leashes with an extra neoprene padding, our K2 and Everest rope leashes made from round-sewn nylon or our leashes made from wonderfully soft, high-quality organic leather.
Short Leashes for Large Dogs
For a walk in the city, through a crowded area or a trip on public transport, a short leash might be the right choice for you and your dog. The short leash is 45 cm long at most, so you can walk your dog directly at heel. Due to its short length, a short leash is only suitable for large dogs.
Perfect for on the Town – the City Leash
In the city, there are a lot of people on the streets and your dog should stay close to you. For such situations, our city leash with a length of one metre is the perfect choice. The city leash is also useful for puppies and for dogs being trained for city conditions. Because your dog stays close to you, you can control them more easily and provide a feeling of safety. City leashes are available in our K2 and Everest rope leashes lines.
Perfect for Two Dogs – the Double Leash
What to do, if you are the happy owner of two dogs, but don't want to walk them on two different leashes? In this case, we would suggest using a double leash , which has been developed specifically for a relaxing walk with two dogs. The double leash allows both dogs to move individually and freely without impeding or affecting each other.
The Practical Retriever Leash (Moxon Leash)
Retriever or moxon leashes are the perfect combination of a guide leash and a slip collar and are ideal for walks, during which your dog is repeatedly leashed and unleashed. You can find suitable leashes in our K2 and Everest-Tauprogramm series.
Which Guide Leash is Right for Puppies and Small Dogs?
When a puppy arrives, it's cause for joy. However, there are also many things to consider such as the important topic dog training, which requires a leash. We would suggest attaching the leash to a harness rather than a collar at first in order to protect the puppy's sensitive neck. Young dogs are usually very curious and energetic. They want to explore their world and can pull on the leash quite strongly. At first, best choose a narrow and light guide leash matching the size of your puppy. The narrower the leash, the lower the weight that your puppy has to bear. The same also applies to very small adult dogs. A wide leash tends to have larger and heavier rings and snap hooks and can be too heavy for small dogs such as chihuahuas.
Which Leash is Right for Large Dogs?
Large dogs are generally strong, so choose a wider leash from a firm and sturdy material. Especially with heavy breeds it is important that you can trust in your guide leash 100 percent, so you are ready for any situation. A soft and comfortable neoprene padding can be very relieving for your hand such as with our Professional Comfort leashes. Sturdy high-quality snap hooks ensure that the leash is securely connected to the collar or harness.
